62Well it’s been and gone. Powershift kicked off last weekend and over 3 days, there was a lot of excitement, talk, ideas. 1500 young people from all over Australia came together to learn, discuss, and call for change in how we live. Call for a more sustainable world, a new way of thinking. To phase out old and dirty technologies, such as coal, and bring about a renewables revolution. A green economy, a more just and sustainable way of life.

We wore green hardhats, chanted for no new coal. Got fired up. Even danced on the opera house.

But all of that means nothing. What really counts is what happens now. If we’re not going to have any new coal, then we need to get new systems put in place, get new technoligies commercialised and rolled out. We need to get together, get things happening and keep the momentum firing. Stay informed, stay in touch, and get involved.

Youth Decide is the AYCC’s next step from here. But this isn’t the only thing to get involved in. We all met each other in regional breakouts, workshops, around the place. Meet up, have a chat and see what you can spawn in your own area. It’d be really cool to see a whole lot of things flourishing all over the country, focussed on creating a more sustainable world. This would be an amazing influence on society to see a positive path into an uncertain future.

On the Up Your Jumper! front, I’ll start posting podcasts again. Hopefully one a week, maybe more sometimes, maybe less others. I’m hoping by sharing these interviews, it’ll give others ideas and inspiration on what they can get going in their patch of the world. Another good source for inspiration is Live Local, where you can get inspired, and also share your own ideas on how we can get us all rolling along well in a better direction.

Remember it’s up to us, so let’s get it rocking along!
